Early Years Foundation Stage

Early Year’s education plays a vital role in providing firm foundations upon which the rest of a child’s education is successfully based.

At Clarkson Infant and Nursery school, our Early Years provision creates a warm, welcoming environment, where young children feel safe, confident, and eager to learn. In both Nursery and Reception classes, our skilled practitioners understand child development and use play-based, hands-on activities to support early language, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Our setting is rich with opportunities for exploration, both indoors and outdoors, and children are encouraged to follow their interests while developing independence and social skills.  As they explore and learn, children are naturally drawn to play which is why play and engagement is at the heart of our EYFS curriculum.

We believe that the correct mix of adult-directed and child-initiated play ensures the best outcomes for pupils. Safety and wellbeing of all of our children is of high importance and staff provide consistent routines and secure spaces that build warm and positive relationships, helping our children to develop confidence and trust. Staff work closely with families to ensure every child’s needs are understood and supported, helping them build strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
