New to Reception September 2026

The purpose of this page is to provide you with as much information as possible to help transition your child into our Reception classes in September.

Please take the time to read this helpful guide:

Starting Reception

Accepting your place

If you have been offered a place at Clarkson Infant & Nursery School for September 2026, please email us or telephone to accept your place, along with responding to the email from Cambridgeshire Admissions you received on 16th April 2026.

Induction Evening for Parents

All parents are required to attend an induction evening, which includes a presentation from the Headteacher. This is an essential session, where you will receive your child's free bookbag, along with important induction information and the opportunity to complete the necessary paperwork for your child's admission, with help available should you need it. You will be able to meet the Early Years team and wider school staff, view the classrooms and outdoor environment and displays. There will be samples of uniform on display. You also have the opportunity to ask any questions about your child joining our school.

This year, our induction evenings are taking place on Monday to Thursday, week commencing 15th June 2026.

Settling In Sessions

We will be holding our stay and play sessions in September directly before the children start school. The children will then attend school on a part-time basis to allow them to settle into the schools routines and allow positive relationships to be developed between the children and adults.

Lunches

We encourage all children to take up the offer of a free school meal, which is available to all children in our school! The children have a good choice of nutritionally balanced meals each day, including the option of a school packed lunch.  Please visit this page for more information, including our current menu.

Uniform

As the children spend a lot of time outside in Reception, we are happy for the children to wear dark leggings/trousers/jogging bottoms, along with their school polo shirt and cardigan or jumper.

Robust school shoes or black trainers are advised, and should be velcro fastening to encourage independence.

For further uniform information, please visit our page here.

If you have any questions, please email the school using  office@clarkson.cambs.sch.uk

We look forward to welcoming you to our school!
