New to Reception September 2026

The purpose of this page is to provide you with as much information as possible to help transition your child into our Reception classes in September.

Please check back regularly, as we update it with helpful links and guidance during the spring and summer terms in 2026, prior to your child joining us.

Please also visit the Admissions page on our website, for  information regarding applying for a place at Clarkson Infant & Nursery School.

Settling In Sessions

We will be holding our stay and play sessions in September directly before the children start school. The children will then attend school on a part time basis to allow them to settle into the schools routines and allow positive relationships to be developed between the children and adults. During the second week of attending school part-time, we will add staying for lunch to the children’s routine.

Lunches

We encourage all children to take up the offer of a free school meal.

This is available to all children in our school! The children have a good choice of nutritionally balanced meals each day, including the option of a school packed lunch.

If you would prefer to send a packed lunch from home, this should include; a savoury item such as a sandwich, fruit, yogurt and one treat (in the form of crisps or cake or snack bar, etc - no sweets) and a drink (no fizzy drinks).

PLEASE NOTE: It is essential that food items containing nuts or traces of nuts must NOT be brought into school, due to severe allergies.

Uniform

As the children spend a lot of time outside in Reception, we are happy for the children to wear dark leggings/trousers/jogging bottoms, along with their school polo shirt and cardigan or jumper.

Robust school shoes or black trainers are advised, and should be velcro fastening to encourage independence.

For further uniform information, please visit our page here.

If you have any questions, please email the school using  office@clarkson.cambs.sch.uk

We look forward to welcoming you to our school!
