At Clarkson Infant & Nursery School we are committed to:

Legislation
This document meets the requirements under the following legislation:
- The Equality Act 2010, which introduced the Public Sector Equality Duty and protects people from discrimination
- The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011, which require schools to publish information to demonstrate how they are complying with the Public Sector Equality Duty and to publish equality objectives
- This document is also based on Department for Education (DfE) guidance: The Equality Act 2010 and schools.
Equality Statement
At Clarkson Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers irrespective of race, religion, gender, language, disability or family background.
Through our curriculum and respectful relationships, we aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully in school life and enhanced experiences.
To achieve this we are committed to:

Our 2024-2026 objectives
- Ensure resources reflect the diversity of British society positively by:
o Subject leaders reviewing their subjects with diversity in mind (subject SEF’s completed termly)
o Curriculum looks (termly)
- Ensure all children can access home learning by:
o Having access to high quality learning platforms (eg DoodleMaths, Oxford Owls)
o Access to books and tablets at home
o School issues home learning resource packs
- Review RSE/PSHE curriculum, including (SDP 24-25) to include:
o Protective curriculum
o British values (democracy, rule of law, respect and tolerance, individual liberty)
o Cultural capital (preparing children for future success)
- New arrivals to school have their needs assessed quickly by:
o Home visits
o Individual tours/inductions
o Dedicated EAL Lead – staff training on acquiring English/supporting children new to English
