Music
Our vision is to enable all of our children to learn to sing, play an instrument and create music together and have opportunities to progress their musical interests and talents.
Alongside our own developed curriculum progression, we use a scheme called Charanga to plan and teach Music each week. Charanga is used in KS1 and Reception. We have enhanced our use of Charanga by:
- Teaching class songs (linked to PSHE/wellbeing)
- Teaching poetry (linked to topics)
- Teaching tuned instruments (see long term plan)
We have developed a lesson sequence for weekly music sessions, to ensure children get the opportunity to re-cap pre learning and remember more. This starts with the recap of instruments and music vocabulary warm up songs and finishes with music appreciation.
In Reception, children learn nursery and number rhymes, as well as class songs and poems.
We provide performing arts, recorder and choir clubs and take part in ‘Wisbech Sings’ and our own ‘Clarkson Infant School Sings’.
