Science
Science is at the heart of our curriculum offer and most half-termly topics have a strong scientific element. Through Science,
children have natural curiosity, but are also taught key scientific skills, which include asking questions, looking closely, enquiring and investigating. These are all skills which will help children to become life-long learners and responsible citizens.
The units in Science at KS1 (plants, animals and materials) connect to our young children’s immediate interests and experiences, allowing them to make connections and remember what they have learnt. We make the very most of our school grounds to explore these units, including their impact on our environment and world. The study of animals, including humans, allows us to look at growth and change, as well as exploring:
- the human impact/environmental issues,
- jobs and aspirations,
- keeping safe and happy including food, exercise and road safety.
